Chicago Theatre Week's 13th season starts today and goes until Feb. 16. There will be over 100 performances to check out, so here are a few for every occasion.
🎭 Bring on the Drama
📍Trap Door Theatre, Bucktown
What’s theater without a little drama? Highlighting the political climate of today, this performance follows a mannequin who ends up in the wrong place and must impersonate a political figure.
📍TimeLine Theatre Compay, Lincoln Park
This Chicago premiere follows the historical conversation between renowned civil rights activist and writer James Baldwin and William F. Buckley Jr., a critic of the civil rights movement and a well-known conservative intellectual. Some dates are already sold out, so make sure to snag your tickets.
📍Broadway in Bronzeville
This musical set in the 1940s showcases how Policy impacted the Black community. The game became an asset, allowing for the creation of businesses and jobs.

📍The Loop
Personally, I am super intrigued by these performances for audiences aged 21 and over. It’s exactly as the name suggests — one of the five actors on stage takes five shots and attempts to perform a key Shakespearean role.
📍Goodman Theatre and Definition Theatre, Loop
If drinking isn’t your jam, but you want your Shakespeare fix, check out Fat Ham. This Pulitzer-prize-winning play brings a comedic rendition of “Hamlet” that starts at a Southern cookout.
👪 Performances for the Whole Family
📍Young People’s Theatre of Chicago, Lincoln Park
This story featuring Marley’s music follows a young boy named Ziggy who is scared of storms and evil spirits. A group of birds helps him see the beauty of the world.
📍Northbrook Theatre
The performance begins with a boy and his dog watching a show about dragons only to find out that they love tacos. But they also learn never to give them spicy salsa.
🕺 Let’s Move and Groove
📍Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Loop
"Mix at Six" highlights jazz vocalist Dee Alexander and tap dancer Jumaane Taylor. They will be performing songs like “Supreme Love” and “It’s All About Love” — what a perfect Valentine’s Day date 💗
📍Auditorium Theatre, Loop
Dancers will display their skills alongside music from U2. This performance will bring a unique flare to what you know about ballet.
