What Chicago's Talking About

All Charges Dropped Against High-Profile Broadview Protestors

Misdemeanor charges have been dropped against the four remaining defendants of the “Broadview Six”: well-known protestors arrested outside the Broadview ICE facility last year. The move comes after federal prosecutors admitted to prior misconduct. Felony conspiracy charges were dropped previously. [Block Club]

Judge Rejects Special Prosecutor for ICE Misconduct

Over 400 attorneys, organizers, and elected officials accused Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke of shirking her duties and called for a special prosecutor. But a judge ruled it’s up to law enforcement, not prosecutors, to investigate immigration agents’ alleged criminal misconduct. The judge said a special prosecutor would have the same restrictions as O’Neill Burke. [WTTW]

The Chicagoans Picking up Dead Birds

As migration season continues for birds in Chicago, hundreds of volunteers are going out each morning to find birds that collided with windows downtown. They are part of a push to build a bird-friendlier city, as Chicago is particularly dangerous for the winged creatures. [Tribune 🔒]

Giordano’s Offering Gas Price Discounts

The pizza chain will take off the cost of a gallon of gas from purchases of deep-dish, thin-crust, or tavern-style pizzas — if you use their app. The promotion is set to refresh weekly based on AAA gas prices. [NBC 5]
