00:00:00

Hey Chicago readers are eating up our conversation about where to find the city’s best tacos. That’s why we created a map so you can go on your DIY taco crawl. Here were the favorites from the City Cast Chicago team.

Producer Michelle Navarro

Podcast Host Jacoby Cochran

  • Asian Cuisine Express in Little Village sells $1 tacos on Mondays, and yes, it might be the best al pastor, fish, and shrimp tacos you’ve ever had.
  • 5 Rabanitos in Pilsen does veggie tacos proud with peppers, onions, potato, and mushroom!
  • Birrieria Zaragoza in Archer Heights has excellent customer service.
  • Atotonilco in Back of the Yards is the place to go for a hefty taco.

Executive Producer Simone Alicea

  • Don Bucio’s Taqueria in Logan Square is absolutely worth the hype. The vegan taco spot by a James Beard–nominated chef serves flavorful veggies on blue corn tortillas.
  • Huaraches Doña Chio in Edgewater has great homemade corn tortillas that are twice the size of some other tacos.
  • Taqueria el Asadero in Lincoln Square is a solid lunch spot for a classic al pastor taco and horchata that slaps.

Readers and listeners wrote in with their best spots.

Thanks to Amy W., Katie R., Timothy G., Katherine V., Tom B., Allison L., and Brenda J. for their suggestions!
